Cristiano Ronaldo Possible Man Utd Shirt Numbers Revealed Ahead Of Return

Cristiano Ronaldo is very much likely to return to Manchester United after Manchester City pulled out of the race for the Juventus star.

The Portuguese after spending six years in Manchester joined the club's long list of iconic No.7s.

However, the No.7 shirt will not be available for him to reclaim as it is already taken by Edinson Cavani.

Here are the shirt number options available for Ronaldo to pick out of:

12 – Last occupied by Chris Smalling, it is not the most iconic of numbers in United folklore but a whole host of legends such as Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and Paul Scholes wore it on occasion.

15 – The number was most famously worn at United by Ronaldo's former teammate Nemanja Vidic, but was also previously worn by fellow wingers Jesper Blomqvist, David Beckham and Adnan Januzaj.

24 – The number has only ever being taken by five other players, Beckham and Scholes both previously wore it as well.

28 – The number is what Ronaldo was first assigned when he broke into club football at Sporting in the 2002/3 season and it's what he wore in the famous pre-season friendly for the club against United in which he impressed so much he was signed.
