One of the major sagas involving the Nigerian players on the transfer market at the moment has taken another turn, as Victor Osimhen's Super Eagles teammate Cyriel Dessers has rejected the approach for a transfer made by Glasgow Rangers.
The Super Eagles international was one of the major targets Rangers had on their list to strengthen their attack and help them compete with Scottish Champions, Celtic who they finished runners up to last season. Manager, Micheal Beale saw the striker as a key target for the summer as well. Rangers had a bid for the 28-year-old striker rejected by Cremonese previously but the Scottish giants did not give up in their pursuit for the player.
At some point, it looked like a deal for Dessers was close to completion with Rangers pushing for one of their key targets but now the deal looks to be off as the player does not want the move.
The reason for this is that Dessers prefers to stay in Italy, despite the opportunity to play European football in Scotland. He left KRC Genk just last summer to move to Cremonese, who were laying Serie A football at the time. Now that his current club has been relegated to Serie B, the future of the center forward is in doubt.
He had a season which was halted by injury but he managed to score seven times in 29 games in all competitions but his track record at previous (and better) clubs proves that he is still a striker that possesses quality.
Torino in for Super Eagles Striker Dessers
His preference to stay in Italy may push him towards a move to Italian outfit, Torino, who are also interested in signing the Super Eagles striker according to Football Scotland.

Torino are one of the more stable clubs in Serie A. They are a decent team who compete in the middle of the pack and have become a mainstay in Serie A since they got promoted from Serie B in 2012. Last season, they ended their campaign with a respectable 10th place finish, 26 points ahead of Cremonese who finished 19th.
With Dessers, they will have a player who is capable of getting goals. He could help them break into the top half of the table if he is able to stay fit and play enough games to find his rhythm and show his talents.
Cremonese will want €6 million for the player if he is to leave the club and they have the bargaining power in any deal that will involve the player. He signed a five year deal when he joined the club and has four more years on his contract.
With the departure of Alfredo Morelos and the exit rumors surrounding Antonio Cholak, Rangers are in a difficult spot and need players in that position. The Gers may have to look elsewhere in their search for a striker but there could still be yet another twist in the race to sign Dessers.
