Former Nigerian defender, Waidi Akanni has appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation to ensure that the imbroglio surrounding the contract issue of Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr does not affect the team's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.
The Super Eagles will face the Leone Stars on March 27 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State as they bid to maintain their unbeaten run in the qualifying series.
Nigeria is top of Group L with six points having beaten the Squirrels of Benin 2-1 and Crocodiles of Lesotho 4-2 respectively.
Recall that the NFF and Rohr are yet to finalize on a new deal with his current contract set to expire in the summer.
However, Waidi stated that the football body should concentrate on how the team would defeat Sierra Leone in Asaba rather than focus on his contract saga.
“It's quite unfortunate that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to finalize Gernot Rohr's contract before the Super Eagles clash against Sierra Leone,” Waidi told Goalballlive.com.
“What is more paramount at this point is for the NFF to ensure that the team picks the maximum point against Sierra Leone on March 27.
”They should avoid anything that would distract the team from concentrating properly.

“I don't really think the contract issue with Rohr should have to take that long since his current contract will expire this June.”
