Football anthem 'Three Lions' reach number one spot in charts

The Football anthem ‘Three Lions' has reached the number one spot in the charts, with England reaching the semi-finals of a FIFA World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

Three Lions‘, which was written by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, and performed by The Lightning Seeds, has climbed from number 33 in the charts to the first position in The Official Vodafone Big Top 40.

The track – released before Euro 96 – has had a rebirth due to England's run to the semi-finals of the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia, with Gareth Southgate's side facing Croatia on Wednesday night for a place in the final.

‘Three Lions' has knocked Clean Bandit's Solo – featuring Demi Lovato – off first place.

England thrashed Colombia on penalties in the round of 16 on July 3 before recording a 2-0 victory over Sweden in the quarter-finals of the tournament on Saturday afternoon.
