In an interesting list of world's best strikers, Victor Osimhen ranks sixth according to former Napoli center forward Roberto Carlos Sosa.
Sosa, known as Pampa in his active years as a player, put up his personal ranking of the best strikers in today's modern football.
During an interview with TvPlay, Sosa expressed his opinions on the strongest number 9s of the moment as reported by Napoli News.
The list and how it was ranked is not only surprising, but can evoke some level of laughter especially coming from fans of footballers who might think the placement of their favourite striker is hugely out of order.
In the surprising ranking, Victor Osimhen is ranked sixth, behind Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez who both ply their trade in the Serie A.
In Roberto Sosa's view, the top striker's gong currently is Erling Haaland, the Norway and Manchester City lethal attacker.
In second place is Lautaro Martinez, the Argentine and Inter Milan forward; while in third place is Jude Bellingham, that's a bit strange, isn't it? The Real Madrid midfielder is considered by Sosa as a striker.
In fourth place is Kylian Mbappé, followed by Lukaku and Osimhen. The ranking continues with Alvaro Morata, Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, Dusan Vlahovic and many others.
However, as incorrect as you may deem the ranking is, it's only Sosa's personal assessment, but it offers an interesting starting point for discussing the strength of number 9s in modern football.

- Erling Haaland

Victor Osimhen deserves a top 4 spot
Osimhen recorded his name in the Serie A history books over the last term, finishing as the top scorer in Italy's top flight with 26 goals, plus becoming the first African to win the league's Golden Boot.
His performances also helped Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years. So far this season, Osimhen has impressed for his side even though the general team performance has been a shadow of the mark they left last campaign.
Whatever reason made Sosa to place the Nigerian international in sixth is obviously his opinion, however, Osimhen deserves a place in the top 4 best strikers of today's game.
In a list released by ESPN in July based on the performances of last season, Osimhen was ranked as the 4th best striker in the world, only behind Erling Haaland, Karim Benzema and Harry Kane.
Osimhen is currently injured and a transfer target for Chelsea who are hoping to add the Nigerian marksman to their frontlines in January.
