Gor Mahia were held to a 1-1 stalemate away from home when they faced Kakamega Homeboyz in Kenya Premier League matchweek 4.
While Kogalo's head coach Jonathan Mckinstry had earlier expressed concerns over the state of Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega ahead of the showdown, his side were still considered the favourites.
However, an early lead did not materialize into a win for the Kenya Premier League reigning champions in matchweek 4.
Two wins and as many draws so far means Kogalo will continue their quest to top the standings.

As things stand, they are already teetering on the edge as Posta Rangers open the gap at the top to 2 points. Gor Mahia and 3rd-ranked Kariobangi Sharks are at 8 points par.
The stalemate against Kakamega Homeboyz means Kogalo have added only a point to their tally and currently have 8 points from 4 points.
Gor Mahia drop points but remains unbeaten after matchweek 4
Gor Mahia faces a difficult few weeks ahead as they struggle to gain consistency.
Posta Rangers who currently top the standings were regarded as the outsiders in the title race before the 2023-24 FKF Kenya Premier League.

However, with the Kenya Premier League table shaping up, Gor's recent results haven't been what may expected from the reigning champions.
A 1-1 draw against Kakamega Homeboyz in matchweek 4 follows a massive 4-1 victory over City Stars.
The latest result for Kogalo is the second time they have lost two points this season.
Therefore, head coach Mckinstry is expected to assess the team after matchweek 4 and address the inconsistency.
Mckinstry men kicked off the 2023-24 campaign with a similar result of 1-1 when they hosted Sofapaka in the season opener.
Gor Mahia could not build on a half-time lead
While an early 9th-minute opener through Benson Omalla sent Gor Mahia fans into a Frenzy, the excitement lasted only for a short time.
Homeboyz got an equalizer 8 minutes after the break to hand the reigning champions a huge blow.
Kogalo who were already looking to win the game, which could have been their second away victory, failed to put the setback behind them.
Two away games have so far ended in one win for Gor Mahia, a 0-1 victory over Ulinzi Stars on 2nd September and now a 1-1 draw against Homeboyz at Bukhungu.
On the other hand, Kakamega Homeboyz have now played three games, one less than Gor Mahia.
The clash with Kogalo was the second home game and it followed a 2-1 win over the 2022-23 season runners-up, Tusker FC.
The win that Homeboyz registered over Tusker meant they would be no pushover against Kogalo today, noting that the Brewers have always been a hut nut to crack, even for Gor Mahia.
Benson Omalla gets on the score sheet again, aiming for the Golden Boot
Benson Omalla was on the scoresheet yet again in the Sunday clash, a goal that earned Kogalo the lead from the first half.

Omalla's latest goal pushes his tally to 4 goals, making the forward the combined Kenya Premier League top scorer so far after matchweek 4.
The 21-year-old forward scored a brace in the 4-1 over City Stars the last time out.
He is expected to continue in his fine-scoring form as the KPL Golden Boot race equally shapes up.
Kogalo will host KCB in matchweek 5 on 1st October, a game that is expected to be difficult too, noting that the last duel with the Bankers ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
And with AZAM TV set to begin broadcasting Kenya Premier League in matchweek 5 since signing a duel with FKF in August, fans should expect live action beamed on their screens right at home.
