Super Eagles star striker, Victor Osimhen has just been named in the Italian Serie A's Team of the 2022/2023 season.
The Nigerian international has had an exceptional year for Napoli this season as he played up front for a team that is largely considered the most entertaining to watch this season.
The wonderful, silky football and passing moves Napoli were able to put together was often finished off by Osimhen, who was in fantastic form the whole year.
Osimhen’s goals were crucial in helping Napoli become Serie A champions for the first time in 33 years. It was a long standing drought that has plagued generations of Napoli fans and the title win was made even more significant as a result.

Osimhen – The Numbers Behind the Man
Osimhen was named the best striker in Serie A this season and possesses the numbers to back that title up.
Over the course of this Serie A campaign, Osimhen made 31 appearances for Napoli and scored 25 goals. His ability to find the back of the net saw him become the highest goal scorer in Serie A. He scored four more goals than Lautaro Martinez, who finished second in the race for the top scorer award.
He not only scored goals but he also helped his teammates find the back of the net with four assists in Serie A this season.
Osimhen also broke the record for the most goals scored in a Serie A season by an African footballer. It was a record that was previously set by Cameroon legend, Samuel Eto’o, who scored 21 times in the 2010/2011 season for Inter Milan.
That was not the only record he broke with his awesome goal scoring this season. Osimhen became the all time African top scorer in Serie A history. His 49 Serie A goals across three seasons (and 82 appearances) surpassed former AC Milan striker, George Weah’s 46 goals.
He was praised by the former Ballon d’Or winner who encouraged Osimhen to push for even greater heights and become the best player in the world like he did.

Outside his phenomenal Serie A campaign, Osimhen was excellent for the club I'm all competitions he played in as he scored 30 goals in 38 matches.
He is currently one of the most sought after strikers in Europe with some of the top clubs across the continent like Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all rumored to be interested in the Nigerian striker.
