Kaizer Chiefs hosted AmaZulu at First National Bank Stadium on Saturday evening, as both teams searched for their very first win this season in the Premier Soccer League.

Molefi Ntseki's team have endured one of their worst starts to the PSL season in recent memory, and were eager to make amends and put themselves back into reckoning.

AmaKhosi got into their groove within three minutes of the skirmish with a brilliant attacking display that was inspired by Pule Mmodi, to thrash AmaZulu 3-0 on Saturday evening.

A brace from Mmodi in the 3rd and 59th minute was followed by a third goal from Edson Castillo four minute from time to seal a comfortable win for Kaizer Chiefs

AmaKhosi were eager to start the match on the front foot and they did so under three minutes into the game.

Pule Mmodi attacked a loose ball inside the area and struck a volley that found its way into the back of the net to give Molefi Ntseki's side an early lead.

The goal gave AmaKhosi the confidence they needed as they began to stretch Usuthu's backline with a barrage of attacks from Du Preez, Yusuf Maart, Tebogo Potsane and the dangerous Pule Mmodi but all these threats didn't breach Pablo Franco's side.

AmaZulu held their own and grew in confidence as they tried to walk their way back into the game but Ethan Brooks failed to direct his shot from a loose ball on target as he watched his effort sail off the mark.

The last attack of the half still went the visitors way as Tshepang Moremi went past Given Msimango on the right, cut inside and drilled towards goal forcing a low save from Brandon Petersen in goal for AmaKhosi on the brink of half-time.

Five minutes into the second half, Tshepang Moremi–who had been lively for the visitors–chased down a high ball upfield before sending a volley that couldn't find the net.

Kaizer Chiefs however made no mistakes, as they extended their lead fourteen minutes into the second half when Potsane played a brilliant back-heel for Mmodi to run into and shoot beyond Mothwa at his near post.

While AmaZulu were trying to mount a comeback, Molefi Ntseki made changes to protect his lead as he brought on Njabulo Ngcobo and Dillon Solomons to freshen his team as time was slipping away from the visitors.

However, the home side didn't rest on the advantage as Edson Castillo was not going to be denied again, as he bursted into the near post to head in the third goal in the 86th minute.

The rest of the few minutes that was left saw no further goals as Kaizer Chiefs recorded their first win of the Premier Soccer League season.

Meanwhile the visitors are still without a win and their search for victory continues into their next game.
