Klopp Confirms Virgil Van Dijk Liverpool Return Date Since Injury

Virgil Van Dijk is set for his first appearance for Liverpool in nine months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in October 2020.

The Dutchman has been out of action since being on the end of Jordan Pickford’s wild tackle last season.

The devastating injury last season also forced the Netherlands captain to sit out of the European Championship this summer.

However, Reds' boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he is in contention to play on Thursday as the Reds take on Hertha Berlin in a pre-season friendly.

The news on Van Dijk will be welcomed by everyone connected with Liverpool Football Club.

“I hope, I am not sure, that there is the opportunity that Virgil could play a few minutes,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.

“He looks really good in training and maybe we can bring [him in], but I need to have some final conversations. He looks ready and we will see. If you see the games now as part of their rehab training, that makes sense.”

Klopp also added that Joe Gomez could also be back very soon.
