Lionel Messi ‘s shirt number at Paris Saint-Germain after a dramatic turnaround at Barcelona has reportedly been decided.
The 34-year-old had agreed to re-sign with Barcelona and effectively end his career as a one-club man but financial issues made the deal impossible, with Messi now heading towards PSG.
And currently, the Parisians are working to complete the signing of a two-year contract over the weekend, which includes the option of a further year and a net salary of €40m, which is more than Neymar's 35 million euros, as per L’Equipe.
“It's a little less than what the French club were willing to offer in the past,” L'Equipe wrote. “But it fits with the player's demands and gives him at least two years.
“A meeting between PSG and the player's representatives is set for Sunday.”
PSG expect to wrap the deal up soon and, according to Mundo Deportivo, he could be presented in Paris as early as Tuesday.
It has also emerged that the six-time Ballon d’Or winner refused to take the No.10 shirt from former teammate Neymar, despite the Brazilian offering it out.
Thus, Messi will now sport the No.19 jersey instead.
S’il a bien refusé le numéro 10, comme révélé par plusieurs médias, Messi envisage de porter au PSG un numéro avec lequel il a joué au Barça et en équipe d’Argentine : le 19. 3/3
