Liverpool are still optimistic about signing French star Kylian Mbappe next summer according to a fresh transfer report in France.

Consequently, this update could portend something good for Victor Osimhen and his fans.

Real Madrid have been vocal through their President Florentino Perez about signing Mbappe in recent transfer windows but after the forward signed an extension to remain in Paris, Los Blancos looked elsewhere but are expected to be back for him again.

However, it seems Premier League giants Liverpool are optimistic they can complete an incredible deal for Mbappe next summer.

According to L'Equipe, it is still unclear whether Mbappe will sign a contract extension before the season comes to an end next summer.

The report also adds that Liverpool are hopeful they can capitalize on the uncertainty around Mbappe's future, saying they maintained ‘contact with the player's entourage' since a failed move for him in 2017.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s renewed interest in Mbappe could open the door for a move to the Spanish capital for Victor Osimhen who is also having contract issues at Napoli.

Liverpool’s interest in Mbappe, hope for Victor Osimhen to Real Madrid

Osimhen has seen his stock rise in the past year and many believe a major transfer move could be on the cards for the Napoli forward.

The Nigerian striker, who agreed to a new deal last summer, is yet to put pen to paper following that ill-fated Tik-tok row, and reports suggest he could be looking for a move away from Italy.

Real Madrid are one of the possible destinations for the 24-year-old and it is clear why he is an option.

Since Karim Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia last summer, Real Madrid have been left short in the striker role. Although former academy product Joselu returned to the club, he cannot be compared to the French star.

Carlo Ancelotti has been forced to deploy Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo in that role a number of times, but it has been Jude Bellingham who has been delivering the goals.

It is clear that Los Blancos need a striker more than a winger – Mbappe. Although the French star could play that role, Osimhen will offer more with his strength, agility, and heading ability.

Besides, Real Madrid currently have Vini on that left wing who has just recently extended his contract with the side until 2027 and is doing great for them.

Osimhen moving to Real Madrid will be massive for the profile of Nigeria as a country and the African continent at large.

Not so many Africans have made a mark with arguably the biggest club in the world and it would be a remarkable achievement for the Super Eagles star to do that.

Nigerians/Africans who played at Real Madrid

African legend Samuel Eto'o made his name at Barcelona but many may not know he played for Madrid in the past. The Cameroonian made 30 appearances for Los Blancos before he was sold to Real Mallorca in 2000.

Mutiu “Headmaster” Adepoju did not necessarily feature for Real Madrid but he played for the youth team, Castilla. So, if Osimhen eventually moves to Madrid, he will become the first Nigerian to play for the 14-time UCL champions.

Achraf Hakimi, currently at PSG, came through the ranks at Real Madrid before going ahead to feature for Los Blancos. The Moroccan is the most recent African to have played for the Spanish giants.

Other notable Africans who have played for Real Madrid include Michael Essien (Ghana), Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo), Valdo Lopez (Cape Verde), Javier Balboa (Equatorial Guinea), and Geremi Njitap (Cameroon).
