Napoli slam £150million price tag price on Osimhen amidst United and Chelsea interest

Napoli are reportedly asking for bids of £150million for forward Victor Osimhen amid interest from Premier League giants  Manchester United and Chelsea.

The striker has been on another level in the Serie A side this season as Napoli close in on a first league title in many years. They currently have a 19-point lead at the top of the table, with Osimhen scoring 25 goals in 29 games across all competitions this season.

As a result, the Nigerian has garnered plenty of interest from other clubs, including Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea.

Both clubs are in desperate need of a permanent striker, with the Red Devils currently relying on Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst to lead their line following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and the unavailability of Anthony Martial.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t hit the ground running for the Blues, with Kai Havertz having to play as a false nine once again amid Armando Broja being out injured.

Unsurprisingly, Napoli – who look set to win their first league title since 1990 – have slapped a huge price tag on him as a result.

According to Italian outlet Il Mattino, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is not even interested in discussing with any club who offers anything short of the £150million asking fee.

The Serie A leaders are in no rush to sell their prize asset, whose current deal will end in June 2025, giving them plenty of time to let his stock rise even higher whilst also making the most of his firepower.

The report also revealed that Osimhen would be interested in joining Man United, who are also looking at Tottenham striker Harry Kane, but club officials may be put off by the expensive price Napoli are after.

However, with takeover talks rumbling on in the background in Old Trafford, Man United may alter their stance on splashing the cash.

Chelsea under new owner Todd Boehly, has already broken the British transfer record having brought in Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £106.8million in January. This particular deal overtook Jack Grealish’s fee of £100million when he moved to Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021.

Since signing from Lille in 2020, Lagos-born Osimhen has scored 53 goals for Napoli in 91 appearances.
