NPFL results prediction – Matchday 17

We bring you the NPFL results prediction for Matchday 17 as the battle for who wins the league title renews in 2024.

These sides last met competitively in 2019 where a lone goal from Felix Ogbuke gave Rangers the win. This time however, Bendel Insurance are unbeaten at home this season; winning all three of their last matches at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, but they will come against a Rangers side yet to lose in their last three games; scoring also in that stretch.

Gombe United have found form at home in recent weeks, and will look to extend their winning run to three as they host Rivers United on Sunday afternoon. Both teams have scored in their last three NPFL games and we see that continuing this weekend.

Remo Stars vs. Sunshine Stars

Joint table leaders Remo Stars will host neighbours Sunshine Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday evening. After a disappointing lack of concentration in added time where they conceded twice to lose a valuable point at Heartland last weekend, Remo Stars will seek to return to winning ways against a Sunshine Stars side yet to lose in their last three outings.

Enyimba vs. Sporting Lagos

Consistently climbing towards the top of the table, Enyimba will be eager to make it four wins in their last five league games against bad travelers Sporting Lagos who're currently on a run of poor results.

Kano Pillars vs. Plateau United

Plateau United will make the trip to Kano to face Sai Masu Gida at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday. Kano Pillars are on the back of three consecutive home wins but they'll have their hands full against a Plateau United side that have won four of their last five NPFL fixtures.

Shooting Stars vs. Bayelsa United

Bayelsa United's league struggles continued last week as they lost at home to Enyimba. Coming up against fellow strugglers Shooting Stars who have lost four of their last six games, bottom place United side can fancy their chances at picking up a big result at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

Kwara United vs. Lobi Stars

Equal on points with Remo Stars, Lobi Stars will make the trip to Ilorin to face-off against Kwara United at the Kwara Sports Stadium. Motivated by their home supporters, Biffo Abdullahi and his wards can fancy their chances at handing Lobi Stars their fifth straight away defeat.

Niger Tornadoes vs. Heartland

Heartland will love to build on their recent run of results; the Naze Millionaires have picked up three wins in their last five league games. They face a Niger Tornadoes side also in the relegation zone, and a win for either side will take the winner out of the last four.

Akwa United vs. Abia Warriors

With just one win in their last five games, Akwa United are in dire need of all three points in this encounter. However, after scoring three times past Gombe United last week, Abia Warriors should be able to find the net at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, making our NPFL result prediction go towards this possibility.
