The Championship round of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) entered its matchday three at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Wednesday. It was to be a must win affair for teams who're yet to pick up all three points. However, all three games of the matchday ended in stalemates.

NPFL Super Six Matchday 3: As It Happened

Bendel Insurance vs Enyimba

Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten record this season to 21 games on Wednesday. Adigie's men came from behind to deny Enyimba all 3 points.

Enyimba put their noses in front in the 23rd minute from Sadiq Abubakar who fired home from outside the area. Insurance improved after going a goal down, to draw level through Divine Nwachukwu in the 37th minute. The first half ended 1 – 1.

Just a minute into the second half, Enyimba could have taken the lead, but Obioma's header came off the bar. A let-off for the Insurance side.

Mbaoma was subbed in the 60th minute for Enyimba. His introduction added spark to Enyimba's attack.

Mbaoma was presented with chances to score, just like the Insurance side, but those chances went begging. A game that was to be a must-win for both teams, saw multiple chances from both ends that neither could make the best use of.

The People's Elephants put up a superb performance but they couldn't find the winner as it ended all square at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Remo Stars vs Sunshine Stars

At the 4:30 PM kick-off, Remo Stars and Sunshine Stars shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Ahead of the matchup, both teams were without a win in the NPFL Super Six Championship round, and so needed victory to bolster their chances at winning the title. Ogunmodede's men started the match strongly as Samuel Anakwe fired Remo Stars ahead in the 12th minute.

Both teams searched for more goals in the first half, but it ended goalless at the break. Just a minute into the second half, Emmanuel Lucky levelled the scores for Sunshine Stars at the 46th minute.

As the match went on, both coaches made substitions to inject energy and spark in order to get the match-winner but it wasn’t to be as the southwest derby ended Remo Stars 1 – 1 Sunshine Stars.

Lobi Stars vs Rivers United

The defending champions were presented with opportunity to reclaim top spot after the first two games of the day ended in stalemates. A win would have taken Rivers United up to 7 points, while Lobi Stars themselves would have gone up to 3rd if they'd won.

Both teams registered one shot on target in a tightly contested affair at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos on Wednesday evening. After 90 minutes, neither side could score. It finished Lobi Stars 0 – 0 Rivers United.

How Things Stand in the NPFL Super Six

With spoils shared in all three games of the matchday, there's no changes to how the teams ranked prior to kickoff. We have two games left to play and Enyimba still remain top with 5 points, same as 2nd-placed Rivers United.

Goalscoring Remo Stars are 3rd on 3 points, while unbeaten Bendel Insurance who share the same points tally are jn 4th position. Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars occupy 5th and 6th spots respectively with 2 points each. Matchday 4 on Friday will see Rivers United take on Bendel Insurance at 2 PM, Lobi Stars vs Remo Stars at 4:30 PM, and finally Sunshine Stars vs Enyimba at 7 PM.
