Super Eagles star Odion Ighalo has been unveiled by his new club Shanghai Shenhua and they have handed jersey number 9 to the 29-year-old as he continues his football career in the China Super League.
An elated Ighalo who had kept loads of fans wondering on his next move after quitting his relegated former club Changchun Yatai said he joined Shenhua following based on the advice of ex-Super Eagles teammate Obafemi Martins.
The Nigeria international who would reunite with his former Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores posted the unveiling ceremony on his Twitter handle on Friday morning.
“Destiny child on assignment ??,” he captioned the post.
Shenhua expect lots of goals from Ighalo who emerged the highest goal scorer with 36 goals from 55 games during his stint with Yatai.
He ended the 2018 season as the second top scorer in the Chinese top flight with 21 goals in 28 appearances but his impressive goal return was unable to save the club from relegation.
During the January transfer window, Ighalo was hoping for a return to the English Premier League but opted to join the Flower of Shanghai ahead of the 2019 Chinese Super League which kicks off on March 1.
