Osimhen, who is currently injured, made an appearance on the Obi One podcast to talk about his football career so far.

It was in that conversation that the Lagos-born striker opened up on the teams he has their jersey and how the Premier League is huge across Africa.

Victor Osimhen responds to question on favourite Premier League team

Osimhen has revealed that he does not have any favourite Premier League in the latest episode of the Obi One Podcast.

The striker rather responded with the teams he currently has their jerseys in his possession and the number of his friends who form the majority.

“I don’t have a favourite PL team but I’ve two jerseys: Chelsea and Man United,” Osimhen told The Obi One Podcast.

“Many friends of mine are Chelsea fans, few are Man Utd fan.”

“Premier League is the most appreciated league by every African player — it’s a huge league.”

The podcast is owned by former Chelsea and Nigeria footballer John Obi Mikel and with Chris McHardy by his side. It is a platform that talks about football in its entirety.

Obi Mikel wants Victor Osimhen at Chelsea

In a related development, Chelsea legend Mikel urged Osimhen to join the Blues next summer.

He urged the Napoli striker – who is still yet to sign a contract extension with the Italian champions – to move to Stamford Bridge, even joking that he would help get that deal done.

“We’re crying out for him,’ Mikel said on The Obi One Podcast.

“You look at our Chelsea team, we’re not playing that great at the minute but then we lack goals, we lack a striker who can run into spaces, who can create.

“I was watching Darwin Nunez for Liverpool, he had about 11 shots, and all the runs he made, he created those chances by himself because he was running in behind.

“That’s something Victor will give us at Chelsea, a striker who is really willing to run behind, obviously, those passes will come through and he will get goals.

“I think we’re crying out for goals if he comes to Chelsea I think it will suit him really well because we don’t have anyone doing that right now so there’s not going to be too much pressure on him coming into the club because obviously, we need that, we’re crying out for that.

“You know, my advice is for him to come to Chelsea.”

Osimhen has received strong interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United in the summer but the Nigeria international decided to remain at Napoli after he helped them win the Serie A last season.

The 24-year-old is one of the top strikers in Europe and has scored 65 goals in 111 appearances for Napoli.

Meanwhile, Osimhen’s eighth-place finish at the 2023 Ballon d’Or, which is the highest by any Nigerian, could play a role in his next transfer away from Naples.
