Osimhen not available for United move

Ballon D’Or 2023 news: Is Victor Osimhen worthy of a podium spot?
Osimhen’s ability has made him a household name in world football

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen will not be leaving Napoli for Manchester United during the January transfer window, according to transfer expert and journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The former Lille man has been good for the Italian giants during the 2022/23 campaign so far; he has scored 10 goals and registered three assists in just 14 appearances across all competitions.

Since joining Napoli from Ligue 1 side Lille in September 2020, the Nigerian international has scored 38 goals and assisted 12 times.

According to reports, Man United are interested in Osimhen replacing the departed Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is believed that the Red Devils planned to hold onto Ronaldo until next summer's transfer window before bringing in Osimhen or any other striking targets. As a result of Ronaldo's recent TalkTV interview with Piers Morgan, the club has now moved forward their plans to January.

Osimhen’s future has been the subject of much speculation due to his form over the last two seasons.

“Napoli insist they won’t sell Osimhen or any other player in January. The price tag in the summer was €120m (£103.1m) and nothing happened, now they’re doing great in Serie A and Champions League so there are no plans to sell him in January at all,” Romano wrote on his column for Caught Offside.

Napoli are currently sitting at the top of the table with 41 points and Osimhen has scored nine goals and recorded three assists this season.

As for the Nigerian, he has scored one goal in three Champions League appearances, with the club reaching the last-16 stage, where they will play Eintracht Frankfurt.
