Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane and Dušan Vlahović are the names that have been thrown around in the transfer news and rumours media since news broke of Paris Saint-Germain potentially losing Kylian Mbappe this summer.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has thrown PSG into strife with his peculiar decisions in recent times. After shocking the world to remain at Parc De Princes in 2022, PSG are facing another side of the deal that they did not see coming.

Things are headed for the rocks between both parties and now, Osimhen Kane and Vlahović are the likely replacements for the 24-year-old.

Mbappe – PSG transfer saga

In the June international break, Mbappe sent a letter to the PSG top echelon that he only intends to play two more seasons with the club: the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.

His letter further stated that after the completion of these two seasons, he intends to leave for free. Real Madrid are waiting in the wings for the 2022 FIFA World Cup golden boot winner and Mbappe is believed to have agreed terms with the Spanish LaLiga side to join them for free ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The letter threw the PSG management into confusion as the intention, according to sources, was to make an attempt to convince Mbappe to remain at the club beyond his current contract or to get him to sign a new one so they can earn a transfer fee from his exit.

New reports now indicate that the club has decided to sell him. Further reports suggest that Mbappe is not willing to shift his ground to sign a new deal with PSG and is ready to sit out the 2023/24 season if they choose not to allow him to play and leave for free according to his contract.

He will, however, accept a move on, leading to Osimhen, Kane and Vlahović being mentioned as potential replacements for the Parisian.

Ranking Mbappe’s potential replacements at PSG

Top-ranked: Harry Kane

Harry Kane is close to his end with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and is facing a personal dilemma: stay in the league with Spurs or with another club and break the all-time league scoring record without the assurance of trophies, or move to another top European side and start adding trophies to his cabinet?

Whatever the 29-year-old decides will be made known in the coming weeks as the 2023/24 season approaches.

Kane would fit into a PSG side that is blessed with pace in attack, as he can play the role of the striker who creates while scoring a ton of goals himself.

The former Leicester City man is also the most efficient goalscorer in Europe, scoring from more big chances than many other strikers with 20 goals or more from last season. He would work especially well with Neymar, who is destined to remain at Parc De Princes for another season.

Second-ranked: Victor Osimhen

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is more likely to remain at Napoli after the latest news making the rounds.

Osimhen will be an out-and-out striker for the Parisiens if he makes the move, which is a role they have not had in quite a while.

With the number of creators now signed to their squad for the 2023/24 season and beyond, having Osimhen will be the icing on the cake as he will be a Haaland-esque player for them, who so desperately want to win the UEFA Champions League.

Third-ranked: Dušan Vlahović

Dušan Vlahović was Victor Osimhen’s competition in the Italian Serie A up until last season. Now, he is seen as a player with the potential to reach the heights that the AFCON 2023 qualifiers' top scorer has reached.

PSG could choose to give him a chance the way they gave Mbappe a chance when they first signed him from AS Monaco on loan as a teenager. He is also a less expensive option than Osimhen and Kane, who will both cost at least €100 million each for the club to sign.

PSG also have a great relationship with Juventus in the transfer market, which makes this deal the easiest to pull off.
