Kylian Mbappe has been told he has “no excuse” to look anywhere else after Paris Saint-Germain completed the sensational free transfer signing of Lionel Messi.
The move comes as Mbappe has yet to sign an extension to his contract with the club, with the Frenchman able to leave on a free transfer next summer as things stand.
Real Madrid remain one of Mbappe's keenest suitors, with Liverpool also linked, but PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says the signing of Messi shows that the club is a more attractive option than La Liga or the Premier League.
“I think we have the most competitive team. Now there is no choice for Kylian but to stay here in Paris,” said the club president.
“I think everybody knows the future of Kylian, people from Paris and the players.
“He is a really competitive player. He wants to win, he wants to win trophies, he said it in public.
“He wanted a competitive team and I think we have got the most competitive in the world. So there is no excuse for him now. He can’t do anything else but stay.”
On the signing of the Argentinean superstar, Al-Khelaifi added: “This is an amazing and historic day for the club.
