‘Rohr Has Not Abandoned Injured Uzoho’ – S’Eagles Media Officer, Ibitoye

Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye has debunked reports that the technical crew headed by Gernot Rohr have abandoned injured goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho.

Uzoho was stretchered off in the 62nd minute after he landed awkwardly while trying to contest for the ball inside his area in Nigeria's 1-1 draw against Brazil in an international friendly game in Singapore.

The Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper, who is gradually recuperating from the injury after he had successfully undergone surgery, is expected to be back in action later in the summer.

With growing reports in some social media claiming that the Super Eagles technical crew have abandoned Uzoho, the Eagles media officer rejected such claims and revealed that Rohr has been in close contact with him.

“It's untrue that the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has abandon injured goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho. When you see stories like this, you should understand that people just want to create unnecessary noise,” Ibitoye told Goalballlive.com.

“I can confidently tell you that Rohr has always been in close contact with Uzoho from the moment he was injured and undergone surgery on his knee.

”So I don't know where they got their reports that we have abandoned him.

“The young man is recovering very fast and hopefully will be back in the summer.

”He has been greatly missed by his teammates and we can't wait to have him back in the team.”
