Samuel Kalu has emerged as a major doubt for the Super Eagles 2021 AFCON qualifiers after going off injured in Bordeaux’s 3-1 win at Dijon on Sunday.
His French club confirmed Kalu’s injury in a Tweet on their verified Twitter handle during the game.
The Nigerian was replaced just 16 minutes of the game by Nicolas de Preville.
Kalu was included in Super Eagles’ 24-man squad for the qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho this month.
And now – with the injury level not yet ascertained – Genort Rohr may be contemplating dropping him for another player.
Prior to Sunday’s win, Bordeaux had lost seven and drawn one of their last eight games.
They are now 11th on 36 points in the Ligue 1 table.
Journalist Colin Udoh Galatasaray has now confirmed that winger Henry Onyekuru will take the place of injured Kalu against Benin and Lesotho.
