Thomas Partey Injury: Arteta Provides Update After losing to Aston Villa

Arsenal succumbed to a shock 3-0 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday night in a huge setback for Mikel Arteta.

And the Gunners boss has given an update on the Ghana international as football goes into the international break.

Mikel Arteta has declared that there is a lack of clarity over the nature of Thomas Partey's injury after getting crocked on Sunday night.

But the loss to Dean Smith's men has brought them back down to 11th in the table.

And there is more bad news with the added injury of Partey, who has been arguably their best player since he was brought in on deadline day last month.

The 27-year-old is now set to undergo a scan to determine the severity of the injury.

The Ghana international was subbed off at half-time and Arteta said: “Thomas Partey is injured.

“We don't know, we have to scan him tomorrow or the day after,” Mikel Arteta said of Partey’s injury after the game.

“He felt it straight away after seven or eight minutes.”

Arteta was also shocked by the level his side played at and took full responsibility.

“I take full responsibility. I am responsible to make the team perform on the pitch and today we were not a team and it is my job. It is why I am standing here,” he told Sky Sports.
