Thomas Tuchel shocked Chelsea dressing room by leaving Tammy Abraham out of his squad for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.
But the Blues boss had the last laugh by guiding the south-west London side to the FA Cup final as Chelsea beat the Citizens 1-0 at Wembley without Abraham.
Abraham is Chelsea's leading goalscorer in the FA Cup this season.
Tuchel named up to nine substitutes for the semi-final clash but was still unable to find room for the fit-again England international.
The Chelsea manager's decision to snub Abraham shocked some of the striker's teammates, according to The Telegraph.
It has also cast doubts over Abraham's future at Stamford Bridge now that he is seemingly fourth choice behind the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Wener and Olivier Giroud.
Tuchel said ahead of the match: “Tammy has lost a little bit of confidence recently and we've taken the hard decision to leave him out.
“It was a tough decision but we decided to go with Timo, and with Kai and Oli Giroud from the bench.”
