Victor Boniface has been on fire since moving to Germany in the summer transfer window.
He was explosive with Union last season in the Europa League and won the Golden Boot award for the 2022-23 campaign, before completing a move to the Bundesliga in a transfer worth €20m plus add-ons.
Following his rising profile in one of Europe’s top five leagues, Boniface has remained a transfer target for several teams less than six months into his Leverkusen career.
Transfer interest from Real Sociedad for Victor Boniface
Spanish side Real Sociedad are looking to make some signings in the summer if some attackers at the club leave.
The La Liga club do not want to take their eyes off the transfer market as a number of teams are interested in the current list of attackers at the club and the club are trying to prepare before then.
But for now, they are trying to prepare for any situation and already have Boniface on the list of probable signings.
It is still not known with certainty whether the departure of one of their attackers will happen in the winter or summer. However, the club is trying to be on top of the situation by targeting one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
However, it could be a far reach for the San Sebastian outfit because of the current contract of the Nigerian striker.
Boniface just moved to Germany in the summer – his current contract will expire in 2028 and he is valued at €40m on transfermarkt.
With that in mind, it looks like a difficult deal to complete given his contract and how important he is to the German club.
In addition, it is not likely that Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso will let him go in the winter transfer window, but in the summer everything indicates that he could leave the club.
Meanwhile, among the competitors that Real Sociedad will face are Sevilla, Atlético, and Lazio.
There’s also the talk that he could move to Real Madrid if Alonso is appointed as the next manager of the Spanish giants.
On the basis of his current form – one thing is certain though – Boniface will command a good transfer fee when he decides to leave Leverkusen.
Victor Boniface’s breakthrough season in numbers
Boniface’s stock has risen in the past four months since his move to Leverkusen from Union SG.
In 13 matches across all competitions this term, Victor Boniface has scored 10 goals and provided four assists for Leverkusen. He is also leading his side’s charge for the Bundesliga title as they currently stay top of the pack.
The Europa League Golden Boot award winner for the 2022-23 campaign while at Union has already scored twice in three games in that European competition this season.
On the international scene, Victor Boniface’s exploits have been rewarded by Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro who gave him his debut in October and also called him up for the recent international friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
