Victor Eletu has elected to leave AC Milan according to reports. Eletu was part of the team that represented Nigeria at the 2023 U-20 FIFA World Cup in Argentina who lost to South Korea in the quarter-final. He provided a key assist in Nigeria’s revenge match against the hosts, Argentina, in the round of 16.

Eletu had positive reviews from the Nigeria football news media and is one of a number of young stars from the U-20 Nigeria national football team who are garnering significant transfer interest. This, it is understood, has led to his decision to leave AC Milan.

Need for Playing Time Leads Eletu to Seek AC Milan Exit, Report Says

Eletu signed for AC Milan in late 2022 on a three-year contract that would see him considered for promotion to the first team after his first year with the U-19 Primavera side. He performed brilliantly with the Milan U-19 side and got the opportunity to showcase his talents at the U-20 World Cup. There, the young midfielder got on the radar of a number of teams and Milan made moves to extend his remaining contract to five years.

TuttoMercatoWeb have now come out to report that the deep-lying midfielder has chosen against signing the extension and will seek a way out of the club for the sake of getting first team minutes next year. The offer was set to be activated when he turns 18 but with the deal now off the table, Eletu will be free to move to another team for free in two years.

The report claims that he is not prepared to wait that long, however. There are no offers being reported by the transfer news and rumours insiders but Goalball Live understands that his agents are looking for a way out for him ahead of the summer 2023 transfer window.

All of these decisions were made while the player was in recovery camp with the Flying Eagles, who returned from Argentina on Friday 9 June 2023 day to a warm welcome from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Eletu, meanwhile, will be travelling back to Milan in the coming weks to close out the Primavera season.

NFF Planning Major Shakeup of Coaching Staff

In the wake of the unfortunate exit of the Flying Eagles from the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the NFF have been reported to be planning a major shakeup of its coaching staff.

Bosso’s team exited a major youth tournament only months after Nduka Ugbade failed to lead the U-17 national football team to AFCON glory and Salisu Yusuf failed to qualify for the 2024 Olympics with the U-23 national team. All of these setbacks have led to the Ibrahim Gusau-led leadership to consider the technical quality of the men charged to handle the Nigeria national football teams.

OGN reports that Ugbade and Bosso are likely to keep their jobs as the U-17 and U-20 managers respectively. Nduka’s contract will be renewed as it has expired but there is no word on Yusuf’s contract. However, José Peseiro’s role is also in jeopardy as past reports indicate that the NFF may not extend his contract beyond June in order to hand the Super Eagles to Yusuf.
