Victor Moses returns to training for Spartak Moscow

Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow have announced that Nigerian forward Victor Moses has reported for pre-season training on Tuesday afternoon.

About two weeks ago, the Red and Whites informed the public that the former Chelsea star has not reported at the team’s training camp at the scheduled time, stating that he still has a valid contract with them.

On Tuesday, further clarifications were given as to why the AFCON winner had been missing for weeks via a statement on their website.

Spartak Moscow, as contained in the statement, stated that Moses missed the training camp in Tarasovka due to personal reasons.

It was widely reported some weeks back that his wife prevented him from travelling back to Russia to joins his teammates in preparing for the upcoming season.

The former Wigan man returns to join his side’s preparations ahead of their first competitive game of the season on July 9.

Spartak Moscow will face Zenit in St. Petersburg in the OLIMPBET Russian Super Cup match against  on Saturday, and it remains to be seen if the Crystal Palace Academy graduate would be involved because of his late arrival to camp.

Moses initially joined Spartak Moscow on loan in October 2020 and was signed on a permanent basis from Chelsea the following campaign.

Moses has made 53 appearances for Spartak, registering seven goals and nine assists and helped the club to win the Russian Cup in 2021-2022 season.

Super Eagles defender stays in Italy

Italian Serie A side Empoli FC have signed Super Eagles defender, Tyronne Ebuehi, on a permanent deal from Portuguese side SL Benfica.

Empoli announced the transfer via their official accounts on Social Media on Tuesday. 

Before joining Empoli, the Dutch-born footballer was on loan at Venezia, who finished 20th on the Serie A log at the end of the 2021/22 season. He made 19 appearances for Lagunari in the Serie A and one appearance in the Copa Italia.

He joins Empoli, who finished 14th last season, for about €2 million in transfer fees.

Ebuehi, who was  part of the Super Eagles squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, was a fast rising star right back at Benfica B some years back but injuries have hindered him from reaching the heights he desired.
