Reigning African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen is on course to celebrate his 25th birthday on 29th December.

Birthday celebrations are an integral part of life, seen as a once in a year special moment for everyone to cherish with loved ones.

According to reports from Napoli Magazine as per Corriero dello Sport on Thursday morning, Osimhen had his last training session with Napoli as Walter Mazzarri's side fine-tuned preparations for the clash with Monza.

The Nigerian striker then said goodbye to his teammates and every other staff before he left for Nigeria to mark his 25th birthday celebration.

“Yesterday he had his last training session and said goodbye to everyone, leaving for Nigeria where tomorrow he will celebrate his 25th birthday and will then make himself available to the national team for the Africa Cup of Nations”.

The Super Eagles hitman arrived in Nigeria earlier than expected as the red card suspension which he got in the 2-0 loss to Roma last weekend also facilitated his travel to Lagos as he looks to have a special time to celebrate with his loving family and friends.

The 24-year-old will be in Nigeria until the national team leaves for AFCON where he's expected to lead the line along with Victor Boniface as Nigeria opens their Group A campaign on 14 January against Equatorial Guinea at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Nigeria is bidding to win its fourth AFCON title, and with Osimhen in good shape, the country has a chance to make a good outing in Ivory Coast.

Osimhen has become a key figure for Nigeria and Napoli since he joined the club in 2020 for a fee around €80 million.

He finished as the top scorer in the AFCON qualifiers with 10 goals. He has scored 8 times for the Serie A side this season, a sheer contrast to his output at this stage last campaign.

With his contract extended recently, Osimhen will head to AFCON and be back later for Napoli to continue the season.

While the Serie A title defense now looks more like a daunting task, Walter Mazzarri's side, through Osimhen leading the line, can channel their attention to having a great Champions League campaign.
