Wales had to struggle seriously to win a draw in their opening match of Euro 2020, with Kieffer Moore’s powerful header canceling out Breel Embolo’s opening goal for Switzerland.
Vladimir Petkovic’s Switzerland dominated the ball and had numerous chances to score in the opening half, finally breaking the deadlock when Embolo headed home Xherdan Shaqiri’s 49th-minute corner.
But Wales did not give up and levelled the score with a header of their own.
A well-exercised short corner routine in the 74th minute saw Moore storm into space at the near post, flicking a header beyond Yann Sommer, who had been in fine form throughout.
Mario Gavranovic thought he had won the game in the dying moments, only for his late header to be correctly ruled out for offside.
