Manchester United have been linked with Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham this summer.
If Ed Woodward gets the deals over the line it would mean even more competition for United midfielder Angel Gomes and almost certainly limit his first-team opportunities.
According to The Manchester Evening News, the 19-year-old starlet is refusing to sign a new contract, as a result, believing it could become even tougher for him if he stays.
Barcelona and Chelsea have been linked with snapping up the midfielder if Gomes opts to quit Old Trafford in search of more first-team football.
Gomes’ hesitation to sign a new deal has not gone down well with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Meanwhile, ESPN pundit Gab Marcotti thinks Chelsea would be making a mistake if they sign Gomes.
He said: “I'm not saying if you're short you can't play football, Messi has shown that, but given the position he plays… they have to have something else.
“They have to either be extremely technically gifted or be super quick or super smart. He's not any of those things.
