Speculation around Marc-Andre ter Stegen has surprisingly been mounting.
As per widespread reports, it has been suggested that the German goalkeeper could be on his way out of Camp Nou soon following some sub-par displays over the past year or so.
The drop in stature to such an extent is quite surprising, considering just how crucial ter Stegen has been for Barcelona over the course of his stint with the La Liga heavyweights.
However, with his Barcelona future coming under a cloud of uncertainty, a number of options are now being linked as a potential replacement, including Kepa Arrizabalaga and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Former La Masia trainee Andre Onana is also a target for Barcelona, who have now turned their attention towards Luis Maximiano.
And the 22-year-old appears to be an option worth considering even if ter Stegen does not depart next summer, seeing as Neto is likely to depart the club as soon as possible while Inaki Pena is being linked with a possible loan exit.
So, Maximiano could possibly arrive as an understudy to ter Stegen before eventually replacing him as the first-choice goalkeeper for Barcelona.
For now, though, these are all speculations and it remains to be seen if the 22-year-old ends up making a cross La Liga switch from Granada.
