Barcelona want to swap Miralem Pjanic for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Pjanic, 31, has endured a disappointing debut season in Catalonia, failing to impress Ronald Koeman and, as a result, finding himself on the periphery of his squad.
Spanish outlet Sport claim Chelsea are monitoring his situation and have launched an enquiry about his availability this summer.
It is believed Barca are hoping to include Jorginho in the deal as part of a plan dubbed ‘Operation Pjanic', as the club are huge admirers of him.
Catalans chiefs view the Bosnian as a strong financial asset, but with a hefty transfer fee highly unlikely amid the coronavirus pandemic they are instead keen to bring a player of proven quality in return.
And the Italy international is understood to be their top target.
Given he is two years Pjanic's junior, Chelsea are unlikely to sanction a straight swap for Jorginho.
Barca would likely have to make it a player-plus-cash deal for the Blues to be interested.
