Nigerian forward Blessing Eleke will have to continue playing for FC Luzern after his move to Cairo giants Al Ahly has reportedly collapsed.

According to KingFut, Al Ahly have been chasing Eleke after being identified as a top target by Swiss coach Rene Weiler.

The Nigerian played last season under Weiler’s charge at Luzern, and had an impressive season, scoring 11 goals while assisting further three in 23 matches.

However, Eleke has been having a slow start to this season, scoring only three goals in 21 games across all competitions.

And this could be one of the reasons behind the failure of his move to Al Ahly, according to Swiss newspaper Luzerner Zeitung.

Weiler has also confirmed to the newspaper that his side will no longer pursue Eleke, saying “the topic of Eleke is done.”

The report also states that Eleke will now try to impress newly appointed manager Fabio Celestini and fight for a place in the starting line-up as he is now set to staying put.
