Timo Werner’s arrival at Chelsea has just received a new boost after the player with his likely desired squad number, Pedro, had played his last game for the club.
Experienced winger Pedro will now head to Roma after his contract expired with Chelsea.
And the Spaniard’s departure has left the number 11 free amongst Frank Lampard’s squad.
Having only just arrived at Stamford Bridge, Werner is yet to be assigned a shirt number.
But the German striker wore the number 11 for RB Leipzig, suggesting that is his favourite number to wear on the pitch, while he has worn a host of numbers for the national team, including 11.
Confirming Pedro’s departure, Lampard said: “Pedro has played his last game for the club. The lads have just pretty much serenaded him in the changing room and rightly so because of the career he has had generally and for this club.’’
