The 2023/24 Ghana Premier League fixtures for week 2 promises thrilling actions as fans can't wait to troop to the stadiums and watch their teams play.

The week 1 produced shocking results to say the least. Medeama SC and Aduana Stars who finished first and second in the league last season both failed to pick up all three points in their opening game.

Real Tamale, Berekum Chelsea, Nsoatreman FC, Samartex FC, Legon Cities and Dreams FC all picked up wins in their opening matches while three games ended in a draw.

Ahead of Week 2, Berekum Chelsea tops the league, Nsoatreman FC and Dreams FC completed the top three.

On the other hand, Gold Stars, Bechem United and Nations FC  make up the bottom three teams going into the second round.

Here is a look at what week 2 has in store for Ghanaian football fans, pundits and writers.

Ghana Premier League fixtures: Which teams will play in the GPL in the 2023-24 season?

A total of 18 teams are featuring in the Ghana Premier League this season.  It is the 68th edition of the top-flight and the best Ghanaian Premier League players are fully involved.

15 clubs from the previous campaign were joined by the promoted trio of Bofoakwa Tano FC, Nations FC and Heart of Lions FC  who replaced Tamale City, King Faisal FC and Kotoku Royals FC after their relegation last campaign.

Among the top clubs vying for the title include Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Legon Cities and a host of others. Medeama SC, who won their maiden league title last season, are the defending champions who drew their first league game of the season at home.

How week 2 games have been scheduled to go ahead

The Ghana Premier League fixtures for week 2 have been well spread out, with the opener between Bofoakwa Tano and Real Tamale United set to be played on Friday evening.

Gold Stars GHA will take on Asante Kotoko who're the most successful side in Ghana football history. Both teams will be searching for their first league win of the season in this encounter.

Accra Hearts of Oak, the second most successful club in Ghanaian football history, will host  Nsoatreman in one of the Sunday fixture of the 2023/24 GPL season. The match will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium, as Hearts of Oak are looking to bounce back from their 1-0 loss at Real Tamale last week.

Meanwhile, defending GPL Champions, Medeama SC, will aim to put aside their disappointing draw at the Akoon Park on Wednesday and fight to pick up their first win against Aduana Stars. This match will however be tough for the champions who lost to the host twice last season.

On Sunday, Asante Kotoko, the most successful side in Ghanaian football, will host the newly promoted Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. This particular encounter should pull a number of fans who have been waiting patiently for the start of the new season.

Similarly, Dreams, the current cup winners, will visit Bechem United in another Sunday league fixture. Dreams will be looking to record back-to-back wins, but it's going to be a tough one.

Legon Cities, a one-time champion of the GPL, will travel to Accra Lions in a Monday clash. Both teams have picked up points in their opening game. While Accra Lions drew, Legon Cities won their game; it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top here.

A total of 306 matches will be played this season and fans will be able to catch a good number of them on StarTimes – the official broadcast partners of the league. Selected games will also be broadcast live on Max TV.
