Jurgen Klopp Speaks On New Signing Ben Davies

Liverpool were linked with a number of defenders over the course of Monday, and eventually secured Preston star Ben Davies in a deal worth around £1.6million.

Reacting to the signing, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said: “Very interesting signing, I'm looking forward to meeting him finally.

“In the last few weeks/days we considered our situation of what we had to do. We looked all over in Europe. I saw Ben, I was interested.”

Duje Caleta-Car appeared to be the most likely candidate to join the Anfield club at the start of deadline day, but Marseille were unable to find a replacement for him and pulled the plug.

Without skipping a beat the Reds turned their attention to Davies and enticed him to the club with the promise of representing the champions.

Both Celtic and Bournemouth had been chasing the defender but were forced to admit defeat once Liverpool joined the race.

Defender Ozan Kabak was also signed by Liverpool on deadline day, with Klopp’s side splashing out £1million to loan the Turkey star for the remainder of the season.
