Transfer Update: Sadiq Umar set to leave, Onyedika identified

Newly-promoted Laliga side Almeria are set to lose star striker Sadiq Umar this summer.

The lanky forward has been brilliant for Almeria since he joined the club from Partizan two years ago, registering 38 goals and 19 assists in 74 appearances for the Rojiblancos. He also played a key role in their promotion to the Spanish Premier division last season.

Last week, reports emerged in the media that the Super Eagles forward could be heading to German giants Borussia Dortmund for a deal worth €30 million but the rumours were debunked by transfer ace Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist said Sadiq is open to leaving the club but has not been identified as BVB man, who have now signed 34-year-old Anthony Modeste in his place.

Meanwhile, club CEO Mohamed El Assy has now confirmed that Sadiq is leaving but for a fee lesser than €30 million.

“Umar Sadiq has not traveled to England to avoid any type of injury that could stop the transfer that is close at the moment. He will be sold for just under 30 million euros. We have more than 12-13 players who have received offers, they are players who have a name in the market and are expected to have a great future”,  El Assy via Mundo Deportivo.

Rojiblancos are already preparing for life without their star hitman, and according to Futbol Total, they could make a move for out of favour Real Madrid striker Diaz.

“Raphael Onyedika is currently the primary objective to strengthen the midfield department. The player born in 2001 of Midtllyand is at the top of the list of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. The other options that have emerged in recent days are colder to date,”

Onyedika was excellent at Midtjylland last term and played a key role as they secured an European ticket for this season.
