There has been some transfer rumours around Joseph Atule, who doubles as a forward and a midfielder for Lobi Stars. Atule was one of the standout performers in the 2022-23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season. He was named in the Team of the Season following his impressive displays for Lobi Stars. Atule scored five goals and provided five assists for his teammates in 17 league appearances for Lobi Stars last season.

His stunning season performances and statistics ignited interest amongst NPFL clubs notably 2022 league Champions, Rivers United. The winger's transfer news is making the headlines, particularly concerning his transfer demands from internal discussions with Rivers United.

According to earlier reports from various sources, the winger had reached an agreement to join the Pride of Rivers on a โ‚ฆ600,000 monthly salary; however, different reports have now emerged in the past couple of hours to deny those reports.

Rivers United have seen their approach for Lobi Stars forward Joseph Atule hit the rock as the winger has changed his transfer demands and now requests a monthly salary of โ‚ฆ1,000,000; a two years contract with Rivers United and a sign-on-bonus of โ‚ฆ4,000,000 to join the Port Harcourt club.

What did Lobi Stars say about Joseph Atule's Transfer?

Reports from various media sources said that Rivers United and Lobi Stars have had a verbal agreement regarding the sale of the player, with the player expected to earn โ‚ฆ600,000 per month, but Lobi Stars came out on Wednesday, June 21 to debunk such claims.

Lobi Stars' media department released this: “We have read with dismay reports emanating from different media platforms that our pacy winger, Joseph Atule, has been signed for our rivals and former NPFL champions, Rivers United. We wish to inform the general public that Lobi Stars is not aware of any transfer deal involving our player, Atule.”

With the latest development, Rivers United who are aiming to strengthen their squad ahead of next season's Nigerian top-flight league, and a second season in the CAF Confederations Cup, will be looking to wrap up a deal with Lobi Stars for Joseph Atule whose addition to the squad will boost their chances at winning more titles next season.
