Manchester United are set to make a take-it-or-leave-it £90m offer for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho this week.
But if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side can’t push their bid through, then the Manchester Evening News are reporting that the Red Devils have a list of back-up options that they will focus on.
United could look to sort a short-term fix in the form of a loan move, having pinpointed the right wing position as somewhere they wanted to strengthen this summer.
Former United striker Andy Cole believes Sancho would be a good signing but warned that he will not solve all the club's problems.
He said: “One player cannot make a team championship contenders. Unless we’re talking Messi or Ronaldo, where these guys are on a different level to anyone else, one player cannot make Manchester United title contenders.
“For instance, if they sign Sancho tomorrow, he might be able to create five or six chances or he might be able to nick himself a brace or whatever every other week.
“But he can’t stop goals going in the other end, and he can’t stop teams creating chances against Manchester United.
