Manchester United have confirmed three new signings amongst their new Under-18s squad which is beginning to take shape.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have placed plenty of focus on their youth setup as the coach has one eye on the future during his rebuild.
They have now handed eight players terms to join their Under-18s side, including three news signings.
Sunderland duo Logan Pye and Joe Hugill have both been confirmed as United players, as well as goalkeeper Radek Vitek from Sigma Olomouc in the Czech Republic.
Defender Pye is a highly-rated England Under-16 international whilst striker Hugill has already played for Sunderland at Under-23s level.
Shola Shoretire, who first came off the bench in the UEFA Youth League to make history when he was aged just 14, has now stepped up to the Under-18s side full-time.
Defenders Rhys Bennett and Oliver Kilner have also been given places in the squad, as well as highly-rated midfielder Omari Forson, who was previously linked with an Arsenal switch.
The squad has been completed by Polish goalkeeper Daniel Polakowski, another player who was already at the club.
Neil Ryan’s Under-18s side have enjoyed plenty of success in recent years and this season reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals before the competition was cancelled.
Shoretire and Forson both featured regularly in that run, whilst the team was sixth in the Under-18 Premier League when coronavirus halted action.
Elder players will now prepare to step up to the Under-23s full-time to make room for the new Under-18s intake, whilst some, such as Hannibal Mejbri, could be fast-tracked to the first-team to try and emulate Mason Greenwood’s success.
