Napoli fixtures are out, and the Serie A champions of the 2022/23 season are raring to go. The Serie A kicks off this weekend, and all the other teams in the top league have plans to nullify the threat posed by Napoli.
The Italian top league is ranked number three in Europe by UEFA. It makes Napoli’s achievement a mean feat. Serie A was well-represented in the UEFA Champions League last season, with three teams reaching the quarter-finals. Two made it to the semi-final, and one to the final.
Despite their brilliance in the league, Napoli faltered in the quarter-final, losing 2-1 on aggregate to fellow Italian side AC Milan. The latter stages of the season saw choked Napoli fixtures.
The Partenopei wants to repeat last season's feat where they trumped all comers to win the league. Following their fantastic performance last term, all eyes will be on the Victor Osimhen-led squad. Before we navigate through Napoli fixtures, let us look at their challengers.
Key matches – head-to-head
Napoli fixtures last season were lined with traditional landmines, but they had to be in imperial form to overcome them. Two seasons ago, the Partenopei came close to winning the Lega Serie A but faltered in the closing stages. They rectified the errors in the 2022/23 season.
In the run-up to their all-conquering title conquest, they beat their main opposition at least once. With AC Milan, Inter Milan (league winners in the past two seasons), Juventus and AS Roma (the teams pundits believed would give them a run for their money), Napoli excelled.
Early in the season, Napoli beat AC Milan 2-1 at the San Siro. In the Diego Armando Maradona stadium Napoli lost 4-0. The Rossoneri pummeled the Partenopei at the Diego Armando Maradon stadium.
The side did a double over AS Roma and Juventus. They lost their first league tie to Inter Milan 1-0 but repaid them in kind with a 3-1 thrashing at home.
AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus will still be a threat to Napoli retaining their title.
Manager change
Following their Serie A title win last season, Luciano Spalletti indicated his desire to quit the club. A new manager – Rudi Garcia, is now at the helm, and he will scrutinise Napoli fixtures carefully ahead of the season kickoff this weekend.
Last season’s performance
Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia started their goal-scoring form early in the season.
Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia scored in their opening game against Hellas Verona, as they made their title intentions known.
A 15-game unbeaten run was halted by Inter Milan in January. They would then go on an eight-game winning run before falling at home to Lazio.
In the remainder of the Napoli fixtures, the Partenopei saw their form dip as they dropped points with two losses (AC Milan and Monza) and three draws (Hellas Verona, Salernitana, Udinese and Bologna) to finish the season.

Can Napoli win the league this season?
Napoli fixtures for the 2023/24 season see the Partenopei start the season with an away tie against Frosinone this weekend. They then host one of their difficult opponents in Week three – Lazio.
It is a fairly straightforward run for the defending champions until December. Napoli fixtures in December will see the Partenopei have an arduous run. They will be on the road to Juventus and AS Roma while they host Inter Milan and Monza (two teams they lost to last season).
Napoli retained their star players, but the summer transfer window is not over. The arrival of a new coach means adjusting to a different philosophy. It might work against them, but if they can key into Rudi Garcia’s ideas, then they could retain their title.
Inter Milan and AC Milan remain their biggest challengers for the title.
