Napoli are planning to offer a major increase to Victor Osimhen salary, as they continue their efforts to keep their star forward at the club.
The defense of Napoli’s Scudetto edges closer and closer as the start of the 2023/2024 season starts in 20 days. Preseason preparations for the new campaign have already begun for the club.
While things look to be going smoothly on the pitch, events off the pitch is not as consistent for the club as their star player, Victor Osimhen is being courted by the biggest clubs in Europe.
After his achievements in the 2022/2023 season, the Super Eagles international goal scoring machine has cemented his place as one of the best strikers in world football and clubs across the continent have made their intentions to secure his services known.
Napoli plot Victor Osimhen salary increase to prevent player exit
Napoli intend to keep the player and the club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has a master plan to keep him at the club. He has previously expressed confidence in the player staying in Naples and fully believes that the 24 year old will wear the iconic blue colors again next season unless a massive offer comes in for him.
“I've already told you, Osimhen will certainly wear this new shirt. If a more than indecent offer should arrive, as we have already done with Kvara [Khvicha Kvaratskhelia] and with Victor himself, we will find new solutions.”
At the moment there have been no indecent offers for the player and the club will use that as an opportunity to get him to stay with the club and extend his contract.
Currently, the club are offering the player €7.5 million a year (just over €144,000 or £123000 a week) plus bonuses and this contract will make him the highest paid Napoli player ever.

The club’s intention to have him stay for the future will see them change their wage structure by making strategic reductions in contracts and wages among his teammates. There will also be a release clause of €160 million included in the new contract to ensure that the club makes profit when the time for him to leave comes.
Napoli’s confidence in keeping him also stems from the fact that the player himself wants to stay. The Nigerian National football team player has waxed lyrical about the fans and his love for the club as well as the city.
He is definitely open to staying at the club and his motivation shows even in his preseason performances. In Napoli’s most recent friendly fixture against Hatayspor, the 24-year-old scored two goals.
Where will Osimen’s proposed contract rank among the highest earning Nigerians in 2023?
The highest earning Nigerian player last season was Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi. He transferred to Everton in 2019 from Arsenal and earns £120,000 a week with the team from Merseyside.
Osimhen’s contract proposal is just north of £123,000 a week and it will not only make him the highest paid Nigerian player in football today but it will also be the highest amount ever offered to a Super Eagles player, should he decide to accept Napoli’s offer.
