Newcastle urged to sign Emmanuel Dennis

Newcastle urged to sign Emmanuel Dennis

Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis wants to leave Watford upon his team’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

This is important to the Nigerian because the relegation automatically affects his wages, as it will be lowered and was rightly inserted in his contract when he signed for them at the start of last season.

Dennis joined the Hornets from Club Brugge for £3m and became an instant hit in the Premier League in the first half of last season. The Super Eagles forward scored 10 goals and had 6 assists last season in the Premier League.

Now, that relegation has been confirmed, life in the Championship is set to follow for Hornets, while Dennis is seeking a move away from Vicarage Road but his current value has put many Premier League players away from signing him this summer.

Dennis' current transfer valuation

His current valuation is believed to be in the region of £20-25m, a fee deemed too high by most clubs in the Premier League.

English football journalist, Ben Jacobs has now advised Newcastle to sign the less expensive Hornet forward Dennis and opt out of signing teammate and Senegalese winger Ismaila Sarr.

“I’m surprised, by the way, given that we’re talking about the possibility of making a signing from Watford, that Newcastle never came in for Emmanuel Dennis,” Ben Jacobs said.

“And I know that Nottingham Forest and even West Ham have been looking at him over the coming days, but there’s a few cheaper options than somebody like Sarr – and Dennis is probably going to be one of them.

“And I think that at 24 years of age and given the 10 goals that he scored last season in just 35 games, I believe, that would make a lot of sense, and that is of course why there is Premier League interest.”

Emmanuel Dennis on the brink of Watford Exit

Just earlier this month Emmanuel Dennis, Ismaila Sarr, Adam Masina (who has already joined Udinese) and Danny Rose were not listed in the team’s preseason trip to Austria.

It is believed that the club is trying to offload the above listed players before the end of the transfer window.

Although the Hornets have already sold skipper Moussa Sissoko to Nantes, Joshua King to Fenerbahce, Cucho Hernandez to Columbus Crew in the US and a couple of others,  they are yet to get any concrete offer for the stars Sarr and Dennis.

Watford are in discussions with the agents of Dennis and Sarr, while Mogi Bayat, who brokers many of the club’s deals, is also known to be involved in the process.

Dennis wants to stay in the Premier League and is reportedly on the radar of Everton, West Ham United, Southampton and Fulham. However, no offers have been presented by any of the clubs.
