Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo could pave the way for Erling Haaland to join Manchester United.
However, Ighalo's age could actually work out as a positive for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Having Ighalo to alleviate the pressure on the likes of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Rashford can help them continue to develop without feeling the strains and pressures of a full season for United.
As for the future, the Manchester Evening News report that the Nigeria International could provide another two years of peak football.
In that time, it will give the Red Devils the chance to pursue Borussia Dortmund star Haaland, who has been an absolute revelation this season.
The Norway international snubbed the opportunity to play under his compatriot in January.
United and Dortmund were chasing his signature after an incredible beginning of the year at RB Salzburg, where the 19-year-old scored 28 goals – including eight in the Champions League group stage.
And he has continued to flourish in the Bundesliga, scoring nine in his first eight league appearances for Dortmund.
However, it is likely that Haaland could move on from the German outfit – possibly even in the next transfer window.
United remain an option and would provide a cheaper alternative to Harry Kane, who the club have been linked with for many years.

Tottenham would demand fees upwards of £150m whereas Haaland has a release clause of £63m.
