Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has reportedly topped the list of African footballers with the highest number of goals in 2020-21 for clubs and country.
According to Africa Facts Zone via Legit.ng, the 26-year-old recorded 37 goals in all appearances in all competitions in the period under review and he is rivaled by Zambia's Patson Daka with the same number of goals.
Two of his goals came during Nigeria’s AFCON qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic in March as he scored in both games.
Liverpool and Egypt winger Mohamed Salah, who is also contending for the Premier League golden boot award, comes next on the chart with 32 goals so far this campaign.
Africa's Highest Goalscorers 2020/2021
- Paul Onuachu 37 goals
- Patson Daka – 37 goals
- Mohamed Salah – 32 goals
- Michael Olunga – 31 goals
- Youssef El Arabi – 27 goals
- Youssef En-Nesyri – 27 goals
- Baghdad Bounedjah – 26 goals
- Jean-Pierre Nsamé – 25 goals
Although Salah still has two more games this season to increase his tally in the Premier League, it is doubtful he will equal Onuachu's number so far.
