In the latest Victor Osimhen news making the rounds, PSG's attempt to sign the Nigeria forward has reportedly collapsed.

The Super Eagles striker has been linked with a move away from the Diego Maradona Stadium for most of the year, with Ligue 1 giants PSG being at the forefront of the transfer race to sign him.

The club’s financial might posed a threat to Osimhen’s continuity with Napoli, but fans can now rest easy as the latest reports indicate that the negotiations are off.

Osimhen to PSG in danger

Per the report from 365Scores, PSG, who were also reportedly interested in Harry Kane, have ended all efforts to sign the Super Eagles striker or the England captain.

Osimhen’s name was put forth to the PSG admin by sporting director Luis Campos, who identified the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations golden boot hopeful during his day at Belgian Jupiler Pro League side RSC Charleroi and snapped him up for LOSC Lille.

Campos’ insistence on signing Osimhen created tensions in the PSG board, but it was quelled, and they actively pursued the AFCON 2023 qualifiers' top scorer.

Napoli, who had been trying to extend Osimhen’s contract and make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history, slapped a price tag of €200 million on the forward.

They continued negotiations with the 24-year-old and his agent, however, hoping that their valuation of the AFCON 2023 squad hopeful would dissuade the interested clubs as it did Bayern Munich earlier in June.

Recently, they paused negotiations with Osimhen as they believed that PSG were willing to match their price.

The latest Victor Osimhen news now suggests that the forward will continue at Napoli with a new bumper salary as PSG have turned their attention to Randal Kolo Muani.

Napoli renewal on the cards

With the threat of PSG gone, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who had been handling the negotiations for the player himself, has all the time in the world to convince Osimhen to remain at the club.

There is still interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, but the Premier League sides did not show enough to worry De Laurentiis.

Osimhen is also keen on staying at the club as his recent comments suggest when he said,

“There is no better place to be than here” when asked about the atmosphere of the club.
