Napoli midfielder Frank Anguissa has said teammate Victor Osimhen predicted the Scudetto at the onset of the 2022/23 season. The towering Nigerian international made sure his prediction came to pass by scoring 26 goals to help Napoli end a long spell without a Serie A title.
Victor Osimhen also bagged the 2022/23 Serie A golden boot and with such a huge contribution, Osimhen's goalscoring prowess ended Napoli's 33-year wait for a Scudetto.
While speaking to the Athletic, Anguissa also praised former Napoli manager Luciano Spalleti for helping him become a better player who is hungrier for success. Spalleti who has since exited the club has been replaced by Rudi Garcia who previously coached Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia.
Anguissa says is he happy for Osimhen, especially after scoring the most goals in the just-concluded Serie A season. Anguissa quotes Osimhen from a conversation they had earlier last season when the Napoli forward said “Trust me, I will do my best to win the Scudetto.”
Osimhen's options ahead of the 2023/24 Serie A season
As Napoli looks forward to another great season, their biggest challenge is keeping hold of Victor Osimhen, a player that has now become a cult hero in Naples but is also drawing huge interest from top European clubs.
Helping to end Napoli's 33-year wait for a Serie A title was only the beginning of Osimhen's exploits in Italy but will he stay? No doubt Osimhen's success in Naples has attracted huge interest from top European clubs. And for a player whose rise to stardom has happened within a few years, Osinmhen has hardly spent more than a season in his previous clubs.
At the onset of his professional career, Victor Osimhen spent one season with VfL Wolfsburg of Germany between January 2017 and 22nd August 2018 before moving to RC Sporting Charleroi for another season's loan spell. He was back to Wolfsburg for another season then was sold off to his former loan club (Charleroi) for 3.5 million Euros.
In August 2019, Lille of Ligue 1 successfully secured Victor Osimhen's signature to hand the player another chance in a major European league. After one season with Lille, he moved to Napoli in the summer of 2020 to bag the golden boot in his third season at the club.
Exit door open for Osimhen with the right fee
European top clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea have been interested in signing the Nigerian international and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen. However, the likelihood of that remains a distant possibility.

PSG and Bayern are the other clubs that have expressed interest in signing the former Lille player. However, it is widely expected that should Osimhen exit Napoli, his most likely destination would be a Premier League outfit.
during the unveiling of the new manager (Rudi Garcia) as the new manager, club president, Aurelio de Laurentiis indicated Napoli would only allow Osimhen to leave if a great offer for the 24-year-old forward comes along. However, he added a bizarre twist to it by asserting his earlier sentiments that the player has agreed to a two-year extension with the Blues until 2027.
With the exit door for Osimhen, it will take a huge free to price away Napoli's most valued player ahead of the next season. Most importantly, winning the Champions League is a key priority for the 24-year-forward, so no doubt he would choose a club that has what it takes to deliver another major silverware in the 2023/24 season.
