The young lad moved from street football to the Belgian club all happened within the space of six years. Raphael Onyedika began playing on the streets of Owerri, just like most of the kids in that part of the club.
As luck would have it, he was spotted by the renowned Academy, FC Ebedei, and was signed just at the age of 15. After just three years there, Raphael Onyedika moved to the academy of FC Midtjylland in Denmark, an affiliate club to FC Ebedei, shortly after his 18th birthday.
It took a while for him to settle in, and in his first full season in FC Midtjylland, he impressed in the U19 League and in the UEFA Youth League with his physique, speed, and ball-carrying abilities.
Having seen his rich potential just a year after his arrival, the Danish clubs quickly offered Raphael Onyedika his first professional contract, signing a five-year deal until June 2025.
In a bid to aid his development and top-level experience, Raphael Onyedika was sent out on loan to Midtjylland's affiliate club, Danish 1st Division-side FC Fredericia, on 19 August 2020 for the whole 2020–21 season.
