The Real Reason Eden Hazard Still Doesn’t Have A Real Madrid Shirt Number

Eden Hazard newly joined La Liga giants Real Madrid from Chelsea for a reported fee of around £88m plus add-ons.

Hazard had a superb final campaign with the Blues, in which he scored 16 and assisted 15 in 37 Premier League outings.

Los Blancos are looking to rebuild their squad this summer and have already signed the Belgian, as well as Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo.

Hazard was unveiled at the Bernabeu on June 13th.

You may have seen that Hazard did not have a number on the back of his shirt during the above video.

This is because, as of writing, the forward does not presently have a number in Madrid.

During his stint at Chelsea, Hazard used the number 10 shirt.

But, that number is currently occupied by Luka Modric at Real, although Hazard has asked him for it:

“I’ve talked to Modric through Kovacic.

“I jokingly asked him if he could leave me number 10, he said no, I have to find another number.”

As per Spanish outlet AS, only numbers 13 and 16 are currently available at Real Madrid.

However, AS go on to speculate that Hazard will simply take a number already in use such as 7 or 11.
