Manchester United are now close to landing Edinson Cavani, and club hero Ryan Giggs has opened up on the Uruguay international’s imminent move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have had problems with South Americans in the past, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao all flopping at Old Trafford.
But Giggs thinks Cavani will be different and expressed a belief that the Red Devils are making the right decision by recruiting the 33-year-old.
Giggs said: “It goes without saying he's a world star.
“My second game as Wales manager was against Uruguay. Cavani scored and I was really impressed with his work-rate and quality.
“It's all about how quickly he beds in. We've seen South Americans who haven't really come and done it like Falcao, Di Maria and Sanchez, but Cavani, with his work-rate, you expect him to make it.
“I think United needed a centre-forward, needed that target man to score the goals and make that difference. Hopefully he can do that.
“I think Cavani will have no problem with the size of the club. He's got the experience to handle that.

“But eyes will be on him straight away and if he does come he'll have to hit the ground running because the pressure will be on.”
