A fresh twist has surfaced over the Thiago Alcantara transfer saga, with the Liverpool target now insisting ‘he has never said he is leaving’ Bayern Munich this summer.
It has been widely reported that the midfielder will leave the Bundesliga club with just one year remaining on his contract.
Liverpool are thought to be favourites for his signature, although rivals Manchester United are also said to be chasing.
The Reds’ pursuit appears to be hinging on the future of Georginio Wijnaldum, who is wanted by Barcelona.
But the midfielder has insisted he has never once said he wanted to leave the German giants.
And he didn’t appear to be too happy when quizzed about the Premier League champions and Old Trafford links ahead of Spain’s Nations League game against Ukraine on Sunday.
“I have not said at any time that I am leaving,” Thiago told reporters.
“Every year you put me in a different team.
